The University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) opened its first international campus in Singapore in 2006 (UNLV Singapore), and our first commencement was held in June 2009. As part of their graduation requirements, students are required to fulfill an internship in the hospitality industry.

UNLV’s Hospitality Internship Program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to relate current theory from the classroom to practical experience under the guidance of industry experts in extended work assignments. Simply put, theory is important, but students need to see and understand how that theory is implemented in the hospitality industry. We are seeking your support to host UNLV Hospitality students for this internship experience.

The UNLV Hospitality Internship Program involves:

  1. The goal of the UNLV Hospitality Internship Program is to provide meaningful experience.
  2. Provides your managers with the opportunity to mentor and observe potential employees.
  3. Approximately 400 hours of NON-PAID observation/practical experience.
  4. The UNLV Hospitality Intern will be placed in appropriate departments to provide an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills acquired during their course work.
  5. The UNLV Hospitality Internship Program is designed to be flexible and mutually beneficial to the needs of the host property and the UNLV student intern.
  6. Hospitality Interns shall be rotated through a variety of different departments during the internship period; for example Front Desk, Housekeeping, PBX, Accounting, Sales & Marketing, Finance & Purchasing, HR, PR, F&B, Guest Relations, Meetings & Special Events, Reservations & Revenue Management, etc. OR a decision jointly reached by the HR department, the UNLV Hospitality Intern and approved by UNLV Singapore.
  7. UNLV Hospitality Interns will be graded on their overall performance.

NOTE:
For International internships that UNLV students are seeking, we would request that participating organizations provide a stipend or allowance to assist students with their living expenses incurred during their practical experience with your property and to help cover the cost of airfare. The goal for the international internship is for our students to gain experience and to be able to cover most of their expenses associated with the internship.

UNLV’s Hospitality Internship Program will be overseen by our Director of Admissions, Ms Clare Ng.
She is a graduate of UNLV, and has extensive experience in the hotel industry. She has a deep understanding of the internship program and is able to address any concerns you or the hospitality interns may have.

We look forward to your participation in UNLV’s Hospitality Internship Program. To schedule your UNLV Hospitality Intern, please have your HR department contact Ms. Adeline Wonoseputro at adeline.wono@unlv.edu.sg
